Eilean Shona House is let on a self-catering basis – you may wish to cook and cater entirely for yourselves. Alternatively, bring your own cook or have some dishes and meals prepared by Jill Gosney, a wonderful chef who lives on the mainland nearby.

Eilean Shona House can be let self-catered or catered. We know a selection of talented chefs if you require catering - prices will depend on your requirements and a full list of caterers can be provided on request.
If you prefer to self-cater, we can help with your requirements and food order. A number of local suppliers do deliver to Dorlin Pier. For our list of local suppliers and cooks, please click here. We can also order items on your behalf to be delivered for your arrival. If you prefer to do your own shopping, the nearest supermarket is in Fort William and we have plenty of freezer and fridge space to accommodate your group for at least a week.
If you are arranging a big celebration, we will be happy to help organise a bespoke event. There are a number of wonderful local bands, pipers and singers if you wish to add some Highland style to a celebration – Hughena has all the contact numbers. We have a selection of kilts and Highland outfits for theme evenings. Activities can also be organised as well, including deer stalking, clay pigeon shooting over the loch, fishing, road and mountain biking.
Eilean Shona is ideally suited for a company team building events, offering a great mix of outdoor pursuits and relaxed luxury island estate. We have meeting room facilities available for workshops and bonding activities can be organised, including orienteering, deer stalking, hill walking, kayaking, paddle boarding, clay pigeon shooting over the loch, fishing, road and mountain biking.
The west coast of Scotland is pristine and has hundreds of secluded inlets and beaches to explore. Shona offers safe anchorage to those wanting to bring their own yacht or rib. There are three sea kayaks available for the main house and several paddleboards. In addition it is easy to rent locally – there are several recommended businesses that provide for water sports and local trips, and include:
Just in case you want to leave Eilean Shona, included in the price of the house, on top of your transfers for your stay, is one ferry trip to the mainland. The boat will leave the pontoon at 9.00am on Wednesday to drop you off at the Jetty on the mainland. This will return to pick you up at 5pm. If you require to leave the island outside of these times, please speak to Paul to arrange your additional travel for a small transport fee.
Included in your stay at Eilean Shona house, there is general housekeeping but if needed, it may be possible to negotiate extra hours and help with the laundry.
The Island has a little shop selling essentials, such as frozen meals, milk, butter, bread, firelighters etc, as well as Jill Gosney’s award winning venison casseroles and fish pies. This is by the Bothy and is open on for an hour twice a week for emergency supplies
