Vanessa Branson has extensive experience as an hotelier and has created a retreat that combines the luxury of a boutique hotel and the charm of a family home. Eilean Shona House is the jewel in the island’s crown. Sleeping up to 20 people, it is perfect for family celebrations, Christmas and New Year parties, executive team building away weeks, well-being retreats or just a gathering of friends. Visit for weekends or longer and anchor yourselves back in a time when the stars shone bright in clear black skies and the only sound in the clear air was of rushing waters and calling birds.
The classic Scottish façade of Eilean Shona House conceals a wealth of entertaining and living space. The interiors are comfortable and quirky rather than traditional and formal. The house, although large, is snug being insulated by thick well-built walls and centrally heated by a solid wood boiler supplemented with four glowing open fires and, unlike many other Scottish country houses, there is always lashings of piping hot water.
The dining room walls were painted by the Glaswegian artist Fred Pollock. The table comfortably sits up to 20 people but can also have a leaf or two removed for smaller parties.
The large and very well equipped country style kitchen has three pantries, a huge catering fridge, freezer and smaller day fridge, ice making machine, AGA and Smeg gas/electric cooker, super catering dish washer (wash and dry cycle 3 minutes), good quality knives, boards, dishes etc.
The library has a full size billiard table, dartboard, and large selection of board games plus a well-stocked range of books to refer to and read during your stay.
The drawing room is light and comfortable with an open fire, sofas, a seated alcove with magnificent views of the loch, a grand piano and a selection of works from emerging international artists.
There are 12 bedrooms in total: 7 double bedrooms, 3 twin bedrooms, and 1 bunk room with two bunks (sleeping 4). Each bedroom has its own character with beds and artwork of note. Serving these bedrooms there are 6 bathrooms (3 ensuite) and 1 shower room.
All the bed linen, towels and robes are of the finest quality Egyptian cotton. The bunk room, one of the doubles and one of the twins are on the top floor – these bedrooms are comfortable but more suited to staff and children.
The house is available to rent for a minimum of three nights and and we can also arrange for special events including birthday parties in the village hall with a local bands & piper. Price on application, please contact us directly for a quote.
Dogs are also welcome with a cleaning supplement.
