Without:
the earth works
its way through
another day

Within:
the world thinks
of
another way

toe from toe
to tell, to know
each slip and grip
and furl and curl

without clever cover

I feel every
folded leaf and stem
sink in earth’s laboratory
stride on cracking history
skip round spike-thorn botany
scale mini-mountain geology

step out, step on
to fall
in step
