M.C What can I say except superlatives and superlatives from the lovely cottage in a beautiful and secluded location by the waters edge…It’s my fifth time on Eilean Shona and we plan to return there next year.

Sawmill cottage is 15 minutes’ walk from the landing pontoon along a well-maintained path, past the lily pond. This was once the reservoir for the old hydraulic saw machinery that processed all the wood building materials at the turn of the last century. You then go down a secluded track and there lies Sawmill Cottage, facing west, overlooking its own very private bay. It has a picnic table plus a little camp fire pit surrounded by stools made of tree stumps. The lane down to the cottage leads to nowhere – you will be disturbed by no one …very romantic indeed. Sawmill Cottage is also the ideal place to see the rare red squirrel.
Arrival time is 3:00pm and departure time is 9:00am.
Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome with a supplementary charge of £50 per pet

Guardianship
Respect for the environment is our core principle in how we manage and run the island. We make every effort to be plastic-free and carbon neutral on the island with no cars and plentiful wood supply. All our electricity comes from the local hydro-electric power station. Our water supply comes from the hills. We are meticulous with our recycling and use only bio-cleaning products. We understand our role in the guardianship of the island and our mission is to protect this vital environment for future generations.
